Olympiad Tasks

Tasks for the First Round

The first-round tasks in both age categories include: an online test in Russian vocabulary and grammar; and reading comprehension tasks that test the participant’s ability to understand the main idea and details of the text.

In some of the first-round tasks, there is only one correct answer, in other tasks – there may be several correct answers. Task completion time is limited – it is different for each section.

Tasks for the Second Round

The second-round tasks in both age categories include online test focusing on reading comprehension and listening comprehension tasks that test the participant’s ability to understand the overall meaning, identify the main idea and connect the details of the written and audio texts, as well as the ability to process and understand the reasoning. Task completion time is limited.

The test is built on the principle from simple to complex, at the beginning there are the simplest tasks, then it becomes more difficult. Only one attempt to pass the test is allowed, that is why we recommend making sure you allow enough time to complete the tasks and your Internet connection is stable before clicking the “START” button.

The sample tasks for the St. Petersburg State University IV International Online Olympiad in Russian as a Foreign Language can be found here.
